This expedition is realized on the Iguassu River in the National Park and operated from the Macuco Safari Base and includes the Traditional Macuco Boat Safari which brings the participants up to the waterfalls. Passengers are then dropped off at the Rafting Docks just below the falls where they will receive instructions and their special equipment. Each participant must sign a consent form/waiver due to the inherent risk in rafting in wilderness areas.
The inflatable raft descends the rapids without a motor, only oars, shooting several intermediate level rapids. There are long stretches of calm water where the raft floats silently downstream to the Macuco base where we board jeeps for the return trip through the rainforest.
A motor skiff will accompany each raft as a back-up/safety boat.
