WINDS OF CHANGE – WIND TURBINES GENERATE A RECORD HIGH IN BRAZIL'S NORTHEAST

Posted by Admin on August 31, 2018

Wind turbines are a common sight along Brazil´s northeast coastline and now generate the bulk of the energy consumed by a region the size of Spain, France and Switzerland combined. On Sunday the 19th of August, churning wind turbines managed to produce 98% of the region´s energy use at that moment in time, a record high! As the region continues to install new turbines, such records are becoming a common phenomenon. During weekdays, when energy demand is at its highest, the turbines have already met as much as 70% of the region´s energy demand.

Perhaps the wind turbines are not amongst the prettiest features of the Brazilian landscape, but they do resemble a momentous change and Brazil´s commitment towards generating green, clean energy.
