Travelife certification

Posted by Admin on April 24, 2017

To mark the 2017 ‘Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development’, as outlined and agreed by the United Nations, Ideia Tours is celebrating its two-year anniversary of official Travelife certification; a prestigious achievement in the world of eco-tourism.

Back in 2015, as the UN Assembly were planning the future of international tourism, its impact on the environment, local cultures and valuable resources; Ideia Tours was already well on its way, leading on the importance of responsibility and the fragility of our delicate ecosystems. Though fully engaged with the many benefits which travel can bring to any particular region, both personally, economically and socially, we at Ideia Tours have a firm belief in the necessity of protecting a visited area, ensuring all has been done to safeguard wildlife, embolden cultural identity and limit any unnecessary carbon foot-printing. This is a view which is shared by the people at Travelife, a globally recognised body whose function is to assure the eco-friendly credentials of hotels, tour operators and travel agents, assessing every aspect of their business from preferred partners to office efficiency. Through their work and scrutiny, the global travel community has a fighting chance of maintaining everything that we love about what we do, in a manner which actively encourages the advantages of sustainability.

Since embarking on our own journey, in partnership with Travelife, we have made even greater efforts to identify greener excursions and hotels, hand in hand with local suppliers across the country. These can all be seen on our website, with the indicator of a leaf next to that particular property or activity, so simply click on the 'green list' filter and begin to plan that perfectly responsible trip.

Honouring this drive towards an eco-conscious industry, Ideia Tours is once again putting itself forward for Travelife recognition, drawing on the updated innovation and positive initiatives we now follow and promote, both in our day-to-day head office activities and the all-encompassing tours we create.
