Dear Partners, Earlier this year we informed you that we were in the process of implementing a sustainability policy in accordance with the criteria of Travelife. Today we are delighted to announce that we have passed the final audit and have been awarded the prestigious Travelife for Tour Operators certification. We are also very proud to add that Ideia Tours is the first destination management company in Brazil, which is formally complying with the Travelife Certified Standard and with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria. More than ever before, we are aware that destination management companies play a central role in the distribution of tourism services and therefore feel it is our responsibility that the services reaching the market are sustainable and will benefit local communities. Being the first DMC to obtain the certificate in Brazil will enhance our responsibility since it is our task to set an example and to actively involve our supply chain from accommodation providers to guides and drivers: to raise awareness and create an ethic of both social and ecological responsibility, promoting participation in recycling programs, waste reduction, and efficient use of both water and energy. Our journey to sustainability has long roots, however, thanks to the tools offered by Travelife, we have managed to put our objectives in practice in a structural way. The certificate is a start and nothing more, however it certainly stimulates us to take our sustainability goals further. Only the joint activities of all involved in the supply chain can ensure that tourism in our beautiful country, Brazil, will be beneficial both for the environment and the people that need to make a fair living from it for generations to come.
