E-visa for Citizens of Australia, Canada, Japan and the USA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) has taken further steps to make visiting Brazil all the easier – and faster – by launching a new e-visa program for tourists. Australians can already enter Brazil using the Electronic Tourist Visa Programme, and by the end of January, visitors from Canada, Japan and the USA will also be able to make the most of this new service.

Not only does the e-visa allow tourists to easily purchase the document online (www.vfsglobal.com/brazil-evisa) or through the app, at USD 40 it is also significantly less expensive than the traditional visa. Payment can be made using Mastercard, Visa or Union Pay, and the e-visa is then valid for two years from the date of issue; however, it is important to allow five working days for the visa to be processed, you’ll then need to print off the document and bring it with you when entering Brazil. A tourist visa can still be acquired using the traditional consular network, although the e-visa is intended to be more efficient and convenient; soon, visitors will even be able to make use of e-Gates at Brazilian airports using these same electronic visas, something which is currently only available for Brazilians.
