CHARITY BOAT TRIP

Posted by Admin on January 31, 2018

The 25th of November was a true day to remember for a group of underprivileged children and elderly from Rio's favela's, who took a charity boat trip in Rio's Guanabara Bay. The excursion was organised for beneficiaries of the Casa de Santa Ana (a local community based NGO), and was partially funded by Ideia Tours.

Everyone, including the volunteers that accompanied the group, thoroughly enjoyed the lively atmosphere on board and the spectacular views of the city's iconic landmarks such as the Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain.

For many the trip was a once in a lifetime experience, a brief but revitalizing escape from the daily hardships of life in Cidade de Deus, one of Rio's well-known favela's.

“I've never done a boat trip like this before. It's my first time. I liked the views, to see the Museu do Amanhã, Christ the Redeemer in the distance, and the bridge impressed me. I love to get to know new places…”   – Kathellen (11 years old).

This was one of many quotes of the day. It stands testimony to the impact that the trip has had on the lives of all of the participants!
