A new airport in Jericoacoara

Posted by Admin on June 30, 2017

A recent development has taken place near Jericoacoara, the idyllic coastal resort of white sands and emerald seas, with the introduction of a brand-new airport facility in the region, testament to its increasing popularity. For lovers of Jericoacoara’s notorious feeling of isolation, only time will tell if this will have an impact on the look of the coast, or simply help cut down on the grueling six-hour drive it would previously take from the closest airport in Fortaleza for those who would have visited anyway! The airport itself is actually situated 30 km away in the neighboring city of Cruz, so ‘Jeri’s’ charming character and modest approach has not been impacted, particularly as the airport is limited to a capacity of roughly 3 flights per day, initially from Recife, São Paulo and Belo Horizonte. If, however, there is a mass influx of visitors and an evolving landscape in and around Jeri, we will be the first to know, and update all of our partners and colleagues accordingly.
