Paddling along the coastline of Búzios in a traditional Hawaiian-style outrigger canoe offers an active yet leisurely way to experience the peninsula from the sea. Travelling close to the shore, participants enjoy views of some of the destination’s best-known beaches and landmarks while sharing the experience of paddling together as a crew.

Before setting out, participants receive an introduction to paddling technique and safety. The canoes are stable outrigger craft designed for several paddlers, making teamwork an important part of the experience. Accompanied by a guide, the group follows the coastline at a relaxed pace, with commentary providing insights into the natural environment and local culture. 

The route takes in the Orla Bardot and the waterfront at Armação, passing the statues of Brigitte Bardot and the Three Fishermen before continuing towards Praia dos Ossos and the neighbouring beaches of Azeda and Azedinha. Seen from the water, this stretch of coastline reveals a characteristic side of Búzios, where small beaches, rocky headlands and traditional fishing boats sit alongside the town’s historic waterfront. The excursion also passes landmarks including the Church of Sant’Anna and offers views towards the islands lying off the peninsula. 

A snorkelling stop provides an opportunity to enter the water and observe some of the marine life found along the Búzios coastline before the group returns to the canoe.

Combining gentle physical activity with time on the water, the excursion provides a particularly engaging way to discover Búzios, with the low vantage point of the canoe offering a closer connection to the sea and coastline than a conventional boat trip.
