Excursion

Half day boat tour Baía dos Golfinhos

This is a comprehensive excursion along the northern coastline of the main island, which is more sheltered from the open Atlantic and is known locally as the Mar de Dentro. It offers an opportunity to discover the island’s volcanic coastline, secondary islets and protected marine environments. Conducted in the morning, the excursion is considered one of the best opportunities to observe spinner dolphins in their natural habitat, as they frequently inhabit these sheltered waters.

The route follows the coastline, taking in the secondary islands of São José, Rata, Meio, Sela Ginete, Viuvinha and Cuscuz, as well as the prominent offshore rock formation of Morro de Fora. The vessel then enters the Marine National Park area, where some of the archipelago’s most recognised landmarks can be observed from the sea. These include the Dois Irmãos rock formations and the coastline of Baía dos Porcos, Praia do Sancho and Baía dos Golfinhos. The voyage continues as far as Ponta da Sapata, whose high cliffs and volcanic formations illustrate the geological origins of the archipelago.

A stop is made at Praia do Sancho, allowing time for swimming and snorkelling in clear waters known for their excellent visibility and marine biodiversity.

Transfers begin at 07:15 and the excursion itself lasts approximately three hours, returning at about 11:30. The activity is conducted in accordance with local environmental regulations governing navigation within this protected marine area.
