For daytime tours of the northeastern coast, it doesn’t get much dreamier than this: set off from the tropical paradise that is Jericoacoara and spend your day driving leisurely up the shoreline towards the picture-perfect seaside town of Camocim. Your first sight in the morning will be Jeri’s famous Sunset Dune: it may be known for its views at sundown but the dune doesn’t disappoint at any hour of the day. From here your guide will drive you northwards, either inland through mangrove trails or along the sandy shores of the coast. Before long you’ll reach the rugged beach of Mangue Seco, a windswept swimming spot at the mouth of the Guriu River. If the surroundings steal your heart, you can enjoy an additional tour by canoe down the winding channels of the estuary, particularly known for its resident seahorse population.
When you’re feeling fully refreshed, the drive up the coast continues and there’s plenty more to catch your attention: sites include rolling dune formations, lakes and white sand beaches. Before you know it, you’ll have arrived at your final destination, the dreamily titled Ilha do Amor (Island of Love) opposite the town of Camocim. But it’s not over yet! When you’ve hopped off a ferryboat in Camocim you’ll still have plenty of time to explore this little seaside town. Your guide will introduce you to some mouth-watering traditional flavours at the fish and fruit market: feel free to explore what’s on offer and stock up for yourself. When your every sense has been satisfied, it’s back to Jericoacoara by buggy.
